India reaches Landmark and Becomes the 2nd Team to Win 100 matches in T20I’s Mens’ Cricket – February 18th, 2022

India beat the West Indies in a thrilling second T20I at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday night to take a 2-0 unassailable lead in the three-match T20I series.

The victory helped India become only the second team after Pakistan to win 100 T20Is in men’s cricket.

India have played a total of 155 matches, winning 100 (including Super Over wins), losing 51 and 4 no results.

Pakistan have played 189 T20Is and have registered 118 victories. India (65.23 per cent) incidentally have a better win percentage than Pakistan (64.4 per cent).

Junior World No 1 – India’s Tasnim Mir Wins Iran Fajr International Challenge 2022

The 16-year-old from Gujarat, who became the first Indian woman shuttler to claim the world no. 1 status in u-19 singles, beat second seed Susato 21-11, 11-21, 21-7 in 51 minutes.

En route to the title, Tasnim defeated Iran’s Nazanin Zamani, Armenia’s Lilit Poghosyan, Iran’s Fatemeh Babaei, India’s Samayara Panwar before outwitting top seed and World Number 71 Martina Repiska in the semifinals.

PR Sreejesh becomes the First Indian Man to Win the ‘World Games Athlete of the Year 2021’ Award

India’s veteran Indian field hockey Goal Keeper PR Sreejesh wins the award of ‘World Games Athlete of the year 2021.

Winning this makes Kerala’s PR Sreejesh the First Indian Man to Win this honour.

Sreejesh beat competition from sport climber Alberto Gins Lopez of Spain and Italy’s wushu player Michele Giordano for the award.

Captain Harpeet Chandi creates History. First Indian-Origin Woman to reach South Pole trekking solo in 40 days

Hapreet ‘Polar Preet’ Chandi, an Indian-origin British Army Captain created history by becoming the first Indian-Origin woman and the first woman of colour trekking on a solo expedition of 700 miles (1127 Km) to reach the South Pole in just 40 days.

She is a trained Physiotherapist and part of the medical regiment of the British Army.

First in India – Schoolboy scores over 500 runs in School Cricket. November 2013 .

Prithvi Shaw scored 546 runs in a little over 4 sessions of school cricket in ‘The Lord Harris Shield’ inter-school tournament making him the highest scorer ever in India’s school cricket fixtures.

14 year old, 5’1″ Prithvi Shaw, a school boy re-wrote history by scoring 546 runs (367 minutes, 330 deliveries, 85 fours and 5 sixes) for his school Rizvi Springfield at Bandra, Mumbai whilst playing aginst D’Assisi School at the Azad Maidan on Wednesday – November 20th, 2013.

First Sports Person to receive the highest Civilian Award the ‘ Bharat Ratna ‘. November 2013 .

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar became the first sports person from India to win the coveted ‘Bharat Ratna ‘ award.

The announcement was made by the Government of India within hours of Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement from cricket , on Saturday, November 16th, 2013.

The Bharat Ratna – is the highest civilan honour bestowed on an Indian citizen.
